This is important in Lucid Dreaming, you cannot enjoy the benefits of Lucid dreaming if you can’t remember your dreams in the morning.
So the most logical and first stage of lucid dreaming is to improve this dream recall.
You may have no recall or very little in the morning when you wake up, in which case you will need to stick at improving it as it may take a little longer to start lucid dreaming. But lucid dreams are easier to remember so you can still benefit from trying to lucid dream along side your recall development.
If you can already remember you dreams in the morning, then great. You might want to think to yourself how well can you remember your dreams? Can you remember visuals, sounds, touch, smell, taste? How much of your dream can you remember? Can you remember seperate dreams or are they all blurred into one? How long can you remember you dreams for, are they really vivid?
It is probably very unlikely that you can already remember lots of seperate dreams in accurate detail from all sences all through the night, your memory doesnt work very well for dreams unless you train it, so even if you remember a dream a night you are far from being skilled and need to improve your dream recall too. Advantages of learning dream recall You will find that if you increase your ability to remember your dreams it WILL make it easier to spot dreamsigns and become lucid in a dream, it will be also more enjoyable when you wake up in the morning and you can remember everything you did in your dream… you will be more aware also of how you lost lucidity and be more likely to spot ways that you can increase the time you spend lucid also what can do to increase dream recall
There are lots of things you can do to increase your dream recall. You should look into keeping a dream diary (follow the link for a more indepth look at this and its benefits) and if you want to remember your dreams, don’t drink alcohol or take anyother drugs before going to bed as these can impair memory in the morning… although some foods, drugs and herbs can help you… you should look in this section to find out more. when you wake up in the morning try to lay perfectly still, close your eyes and just refelct on the dream. go over it a couple of times in your head. you may remember extra details or vividness. Once you have remembered as much as you can it is advised to write it down, because dreams are easy to forget. I know there have been lots of times when i have woken up from a good dream and because i have gotten out of bed so quick and been occupied with my daily activities, the dreams can sometimes slip my mind, which can be really annoying especially if you were lucid and forget the main plot!
