WBTB: Wake Back to Bed

Because your longest and most vivid REM cycles are 5-6 hours into sleep, it can be hard to hold an intention or to keep wilding until these longer cycles. So you can use a method of waking up after 5-6 hours of sleep, and getting out of bed for 30 mins. Go read a book or look on a website about lucid dreaming for half an hour. Then get yourself back to bed and try either the WILD method or the MILD method, which ever method you have been practising. You will find that the chances you will get lucid from have increased a lot, your intention will have been set for the MILD method and be easier to retrieve and for the WILD method you will not have to wait through the torment of your body falling asleep for 90 minutes. It will happen in about 5 minutes, and because the REM periods are close it will not be a long wait before you enter a dream. It may be harder to remain conscience because you have had sleep already and probably want more, but try to focus. You can still try the WILD method quickly before falling to sleep too, but it is not advised to do WILD and then try this as you may find yourself not getting enough sleep. This method is fairly simple it is just really a modification that works very well for the MILD and WILD techniques, so try it and enjoy. If you are finding it hard to get back to sleep once you have woken up. Whilst you are awake make sure it is warm in the room and no draught to wake you up. And make yourself a hot cup of tea or something (not coffee obviously or you will be awake all night) there are some methods from the insomnia section that can be used to help. This technique is highly recommended for beginners and will give you a higher chance of getting that much wanted first lucid dream!
