Introduction:

Lucid dreaming is being aware that you are dreaming. You can use lucid dreaming to control your dreams and create any world you can possibly image. You are only limited by your imagination.

Do you want the ability to control your dreams?

If you have seen the film the matrix you can think of lucid dreaming as the matrix world and the real world as the real real world. And when you are going to sleep you go into a dream (the matrix) and have get contro (lucidity) like they do. You can summun up objects and bend the laws of physics. Anything is possible.

Of course lucid dreaming has nothing to do with the matrix but it can help you visualise the concept. In reality you got to sleep and in the REM stages of the sleep cycle you begin dreaming. You gain lucidity in the dream by realising that it is a dream. And the journey to help realise you are dreaming and gain lucidity in dreams begins here. Including lots of techniques to induce dreams and ways to improve them

If you have just become aware of lucid dreaming you may find it hard to set foot in the right direction and not know what you should start with and where to progress next.

Luckily there have been people before us that have experimented with dreams and lucidity to help develop ways to induce it. Lucid dreaming is becoming more well known in modern society with films such as 'vanilla sky' covering it and the information here will help you on your journey towards having regular lucid dreams.

These steps are desiged to tell you the main skills you will need to develop in order to have a successful lucid dream and the easiest techniues to start out with.

By all means, experiment with other methods whilst learning but you may find these harder to do than these.


Preparation:

Before you will be able to lucid dream you must first be able to remember your dreams. Often people who don't develop dream recall wake up in the morning and either can't remember their dreams or remember little for a short time and easily forget it when out of bed occupied with their daily tasks. What is the point of having a lucid dream when you can't remember you had one or what it was about when you wake up in the morning? Not much....so it is avisable to start improving your dream recall. Techniques:

So far i have covered what lucid dreams are, why you should learn to remember and how good it would be to control them. but how to you acheive lucidity? how do you become aware you are dreaming? How do i know i am lucid? What does it feel like? These are some of the question that may be resting on your mind. And these next sections should be visited and implemented alongside your dream recall development to help you understand the full process, and what happens both physically and mentally from being awake to going into a lucid dream.

Techniques you should begin with are

Reality Checks - This section will reveal a technique into lucid dreaming that is a must for beginners

Levels Of Lucidity - This section will reveal what is feels like to become lucid, what the different levels of lucidity are and what levels of realism and control can be experience.

MILD - This is a method of induction described by stephen La Berge

WBTB - Used in combination with the WILD technique can be ver effective for lucid dreams.

It is a good idea to get to grips with these techniques before any of the more advanced ones, but by all means, if you think that these arent for you and want to try one of the other methods you can but will have slower development of the skills and they will take longer to learn. Hopefully by this stage you know the basics of lucid dreaming and how to induce them, what they feel like etc? and maybe you have already had one. If so, then well done!
