Sleep Deprivation

A lot of this problem is caused due to the fast paces lifestyles that are required from school work and even social activity

How much sleep do we need
Adults generally need 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night. but as we get older, we can get by on less sleep with people 60 and over getting by on 5-6 hours. People who are well rested should feel awake and not need the urge to nap

Causes of sleep deprivation/insomnia?
Not allowing enough time for sleep
Anything that causes poor quality sleep
Excessive worry, depression
Repeated awakenings from noise
Working at night, jet-lag.
Medical illness causing pain, difficulty breathing, etc.

Effects of Sleep Deprivation
Possible increase in work and road accidents
Decreased productivity.
Slow down in mental activity
Can be very irratable, causing social problems.

When insomia can effect you the most
Early in the morning-mid afternoon you are the least alert. So if you are troubled from sleep problems, slow down and take more care in the morning

How to help sleep deprivation
Setting and appropriate time for sleep at night.
Taking naps during the day
Sleeping pills can be used to help (see your doctor, they will be able to help perscribe suitable products for use, and also offer other alternatives)

Note that for depression or medical issues such as breathing troubles(sleep apnea), you are advised to seek medical adive as soon as possible

Its pretty ironic that i wrote this at 5am because i couldn’t sleep!
