About
Snoring
Snoring happens
when the airway is partially blocked which inhibits
easy & normal breathing during sleep
causing the vibration of the uvula & the soft palate
as air is being forced through the narrow air passage way
to reach the lungs.
Snoring can run in the family.
Most snorers
don't even know about it.
Children do snore & usually it is because their adenoids
are enlarged or when they have a blocked nose. Snoring may
also occur in small babies as their airways are still relatively
small. This
should pass soon, if it doesnt, consult a doctor
Snoring animals include dogs, cats, elephants, gorillas,
pigs & rhinos.
Stop
Snoring
Lift the
snorers head by placing pillows below
it
Avoid alcohol before bed.
Don't eat
before bed,
especially rich foods
Stop smoking
Obesity is
associated with snoring, losing weight helps
Anti-snoring pills or anti-snoring nasal spray.
A mouthpiece called the mandibular advancement splint to
make the airway stay open & thus create more breathing
space.
Problems
with other's snoring?
If you are living with other people
who snore, it can get very irratating... so try these to
stop the snorer in their tracks.
If laying
down, nudge the snorer and tell them to turn on their side,
do it gently and they will probably just do it then fall
straight back to sleep without even realising.
If sitting
up, gently nudge the snorer and ask them to lean their head
forward
Start going
to bed before the snorer does, or ask then to stay up untill
you go to sleep
Buy yourself
a good pair of earplugs, they are not expensive
If you are
having persistent problems with snoring, you should consult
your local doctor for advice.
